Dear Reader,

The Warrior is a memoir written in 28 poems and dedicated to my son, Ben, who served two tours of duty in Iraq. Most of this book was written while Ben was deployed. Writing became my refuge and a source of hope while I waited for him to come home.

Many families are still waiting for their loved ones, who are in combat or dangerous circumstances. Lately I've been receiving letters and e-mails from military moms and others who've read poems from The Warrior and want to share their own experiences and express their concern for our deployed soldiers and their families. Sometimes they have questions about the poems. I am offering this site as a central place to provide answers to those questions and to respond to and share with you the moving stories of others.

No matter how you feel about the war, your questions, thoughts and personal experiences are welcome here. I won't be able to answer all your e-mails individually, but I will respond to your collective concerns on my blog, so please be in touch.
